There are also a ton of ways to alter the ingredients for each person’s specific taste or diet specifications so if your paleo, gluten free, vegetarian, etc… then these babies can be manipulated pretty easily.
the problem with buying falafels is they tend to be deep fried and although they are amazing this way it’s probably not your best choice, at least not mine with the amount I can consume in a sitting.
I have a huge appetite so I have to be careful about what my food is cooked in and cooked with, and because I can not bear to eat boring food I have to find new and tasty ways to cook my favs !
These little numbers came from my sister in law and I have eaten them 3 times this week … unbelievably good and super easy, they are amazing in a pita pocket with finely chopped cucumber tomato onion and the dressing.
1 cup of fresh Peas.
Can Chickpeas 400g drained and rinsed.
1 tbsp Ground Cumin.
1/2 cup fresh cilantro.
1/2cup fresh parsley.
1 cup breadcrumbs.
2 spring onions chopped
200 grams Feta crumbled.
1 tbsp coconut oil.
1/4 Cup Tamari.
2 tbsp olive oil.
1/2 squeezed fresh lemon
1 clove garlic finely chopped.
1 small chopped fresh chilli ( seeded for less heat)
1/4 cup chopped coriander.
2 tbsp water.
In a food processor combine peas, chickpeas egg cumin cilantro, parsley and breadcrumbs.. pulse until it forms a coarse paste
Put mixture to a bowl and stir in Feta and spring onions.
Take tbsp of mixture and roll into balls flatten on tray.
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl
Heat coconut oil in frying pan and cook Falafels for a few minutes on each side
Turning carefully as mixture is very soft.
Serve with chopped cucumbers and dressing on side.
