Best All-Natural Healing Sunburn Relief Ever
You know when you are walking off the beach and being beyond excited to get into the shower because your hoo-ha is covered in sand? Then you peel off your bathing suit and jump in the warm water just to have it feel like acid? Yeah, we’ve all been there. I am convinced there is no worse feeling than lathering yourself in sunblock just to get a nasty burn anyway. Like why do you even bother? Skin cancer? Meh, we’re probably all going to get that anyway.
I have spent the last week in Florida, aka Hell’s dungeon, and I look like a tomato. A peeling, sun bleached tomato. And yes, I did apply sunscreen. A lot. SPF 100 all day every day to no avail. I blame my severely Irish roots…
Now I am forced into sleepless, hot, sticky nights that are seemingly endless. And I am positive it will not be the only time this year. How have I not gone completely insane? Two amazing home remedies for sunburn. They have literally been my saving grace and I can actually feel them healing my skin.
I mean these are now my new favorite tricks, and rightfully so. My skin thanks me, which is surprising because it was trying to kill me 48 hours ago.
Enter the best all-natural healing sunburn relief ever!
Raw apple cider vinegar and coconut oil
I mean duh. What can’t ACV and coconut oil do? Run the world? Wrong, they can probably do that too.
Drench a washcloth with ACV and drown your sad skin with it. Then, once you’re dry, lather yourself with coconut oil so you look like a greased pig (make sure you’re using room temp. oil as to not irritate your burn more). Put on loose fitting clothes and go to bed, you’ll feel better in the morning.
Aloe + Essential Oils
Never will there ever be an article relating to sunburn without mentioning the magic of aloe. Honestly, we are not worthy of this godly plant.
Basically, because I am a crazy person, I have aloe plants all over my house so I use the gel from those but, if you are buying aloe vera, MAKE SURE IT IS 100% PURE ALOE VERA GEL!!! I cannot stress this enough! No one wants their sunburn covered in chemicals.
Once you have your pure aloe, take a small, glass jar and add 3 tablespoons of the gel to it. Then add 15 drops of pure lavender oil and 15 drops of pure peppermint oil and stir until the gel is slightly cloudy.
Seriously, it’s just science. Aloe is an anti-inflammatory, lavender oil is known for it’s skin healing power, and peppermint oil instantly soothes and cools the skin. Not to mention, all of the above smell delicious!
Go forth into the summer with no fear and ample sunblock ….. And these remedies just incase that sunblock fails. Your skin will thank you.
